Dit Da Jow Liniment

Dit Da Jow is a traditional Chinese liniment (Northern Shaolin) made on site at Dao Holistic in the UK. It uses a unique blende of nineteen Chinese herbs specially formulated to stimulate circulation, reduce swelling, bruising, and joint and muscle  Many customers have found our liniment helpful for discomfort associated with their arthritis and rheumatism.

What is it used for?

Dit Da Jow Liniment can be used for all sorts of painful conditions and injuries including bruising, muscle tears, ligament injuries and broken bones. When applied, it can help stop pain and start the healing process. For broken bones and fractures it is thought to speed the regeneration of bone and surrounding tissues. For those Martial Arts enthusiasts that are undergoing Iron Palm training the formulation has many similarities with Shattering Palm Iron Palm Jow and thus can be used as an Iron Palm Liniment.

How is it made?

Dit Da Jow (Northern Shaolin) / Golden Lotus 6th Century are macerated (soaked) in alcohol for at least a year and comes with a certificate to verify this. Current stocks of our liniments have been age matured for over two years and are of the very highest quality.  The formulations of the different Authenticated Dao Di Chinese herbs are ground into a powder to give an increased surface area so more of the active ingredients are extracted from the herbs into the 25% V/V alcohol. The 25% V/V alcohol / Water content ensures a maximum extraction of both water soluble and organic constituents from the high-quality Chinese herbs used in this liniment. A new Halal version of our very successful Dit Da Jow (Northern Shaolin) is now also available, which uses natural vegetable glycerine to extract the Chinese Herbs instead of alcohol. This product is available in 100ml and 200ml bottles.

The DaoDi herbs are milled into a fine powder to increase the surface area and increase the efficiency of the extraction of the herbs active ingredients.   Some customers have asked if this causes clumping when the liquid / alcohol / glycerine is added?   The answer to this no.  This is prevented by adding the herbs gradually to some of the liquid in the Jar and thoroughly shaking it before adding the remaining liquid.

Dit Da Jow (Northern Shaolin) is macerated in alcohol / distilled water for at least a year before being bottled for sale.  The ratio of alcohol of alcohol and water is the has been carefully chosen to extract the water soluble (polar) and non water soluble (non polar constituents.   Many Dit Da Jow products contain too much alcohol which mean they dry the skin and have the wrong balance of the herbs active ingredients.  Dit Da Jow (Northern Shaolin) massage  oil is enthused in porous bags to ensure the removal of herbal debris which is not desirable during massage.   Our New Dit Da Jow (Northern Shaolin)  Glycerate is an alcohol free product (HALAL) and uses food grade glycerine to extract the DaoDi Chinese Herbs instead of alcohol.
